A True Best Friend
Friends come and go however a few will stick around. Now my best friend and I don't have some incredible story on how we met or how we really clicked, but I think that's what makes this friendship so special.
My friend Kaitlyn and I became friends the regular ordinary way in a class we had together in sophomore year. While in gym class her and her other friend planned on going trick or treating, which is completely embarrassing as we were about 15 at the time. This is when I found out that we only lived about a block away from each other. I've always wanted one of those neighborhood friends as a kid.
Throughout high school our friendship just stuck. We're the type of friends that support each other and cheer each other on when something exciting happens in our lives. Our friendship consists of us going ice skating, walking around our neighborhood, facetiming and having conversations about her favorite show "Grey's Anatomy". Kaitlyn is also going to Ramapo College for Nursing. As a child I never really had a friend that cared about my dreams or future goals. However we both can't wait to see each other thrive in our future chosen career paths.
The biggest fear some of us have when graduating high school and entering college is which friends are going to leave and which ones will stay. Kaitlyn knows I want to become a video maker and the day I left for college she sent me a video wishing me luck. It had some of my other friends in it as well. That video allowed me to reflect on all the incredible memories we had. We're there for a laugh and a cry and we can always pick each other back up. Which is funny because we literally had to pick her back up when she fell at prom.
What is great about our friendship is that I don't have to worry if it will ever go away because we are still so close even going to different colleges. We have only known each other for four years, but I think our friendship will last a lifetime.
Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It’s not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything.” — Muhammad Ali
